Just in case you were interested

I have compiled this handy page about myself, for you curious Tumblrites out there. I know just how frustrating it is to find someone’s Tumblr absolutely fascinating and, while trying to figure out some small fact about the author, discover they don’t even have a basic info section! The horror!

Here are some random facts:

  • Stephenie Alice. My first name comes straight from my father, whose name is Stephen. Crazy right? My middle name is an old family name, and it’s my mother’s middle name, too!
  • My birthday is May 28. Fun fact: this is also my Grandma’s birthday. My mom apparently got to pick the day I was born because I was bad at being born on my own.
  • I’m from and currently residing in Florida. I was born in Seminole (Clearwater area), then moved to Tampa, then moved to Sarasota. I currently live in Tallahassee.
  • I live in Tallahassee because I attend The Florida State University, which is the oldest University in the state and really pretty. There is just no place that combines the ultra-urban and the super-redneck like Tally.
  • I am a Classical Civilizations major, which means I study Ancient Greece and Rome. I used to be a Physics and Astrophysics major, but that’s a story for another time. Or bullet-point.
  • I love astrophysics with all of my heart, particularly astronomy, but I found myself really hating the classes I had to take and I was just not very good at any math past Calculus 2 level. I’m also not good at memorizing formulae or number values, so add that all up and you have a not-very-successful student. Classics is more suited to my strengths, and I love it just as much as physics.
  • I have an insane phobia of spiders. This is partly due to secretly watching Arachnophobia as a child and being scarred for life, and partly due to the fact that my house was infested with wolf spiders (and I have had a few jump on me). Please do not ever show me a picture of a spider, because I will go into shock and/or a coma.
  • I have a tendency to become obsessed with celebrities. I don’t know where this comes from, but they are always male and usually many years older than me. It’s not exactly a romantic obsession, but I think more of a psychological result of abandonment issues. My father left when I was three and I haven’t seen him since I was 9, so I think mostly I am just obsessed with the idea of a good father. I like actors that talk about their daughters in a loving way, essentially.
  • I have a sister and a step-brother, and they mean a great deal to me. I feel badly for people who grew up as the only child, because I know how much love and fun and fighting and togetherness they missed out on.
  • I like blogs with original content. Even boring blog-y blogs like mine. Reblogged photos of nebulae with some fancy text over them are not my cup of tea, sorry.
